Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and South African immigrant, took to social media to express his concerns about the serious influx of illegal immigrants into the United States during President Joe Biden’s administration.
Musk highlighted the staggering numbers, referencing a post by conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair, which claimed that 7.2 million illegal immigrants had entered the U.S. since Biden assumed office in 2021.
Musk emphasized his support for legal immigration, given his own immigrant background, but criticized the admission of millions of unvetted individuals into the country illegally as “insane.”
He particularly pointed out the recent incident in New York City, where over 1,000 individuals protested at City Hall Park, demanding permanent housing after being sent to shelters.
According to data from Customs and Border Protection, more than 9.5 million migrants have illegally crossed into the U.S., underscoring the scale of the issue as highlighted by Musk.
This is not the first time Musk has raised concerns about illegal immigration. In February, he warned about the detrimental impact of the massive influx of illegal immigrants on essential services in the country, cautioning that the situation was “crushing the country.”
In an opinion piece for Newsmax, Larry Bell, an endowed professor at the University of Houston, echoed concerns about the consequences of including illegal immigrants in census counts.
He explained how this practice can result in states with large populations of illegal aliens gaining additional representation in Congress at the expense of states with fewer non-citizens. Bell emphasized the need to address this issue, particularly in light of its impact on congressional representation and political dynamics.
