Rakim Meyers, better known as A$AP Rocky, opened up during a conversation with GQ about how he views parenting as he prepares to welcome his third child with Rihanna. When asked if his approach to fatherhood would look different this time, the rapper, now 36, explained that every pregnancy and child has brought its own unique journey.
He explained, “This experience, this pregnancy, it feels very different compared to the first two. None of them is the same. Each one comes with its own feeling, its own rhythm, and this one is no exception.”
Reflecting on fatherhood
Rocky was also pressed on whether he’s had standout moments in recent years that defined his role as a dad. He admitted that watching himself grow both personally and professionally while taking on parenthood has been fascinating. “It’s been wild to see myself evolve, not just as an artist, but as a man, and especially as a father. People have seen in real time how much I wanted this to be a present; loving dad has been a dream for me,” he said.
He added that his children are the center of his emotional world. “My heart is filled with nothing but love for them. That’s where most of my energy goes into being the father I always wanted to be.”
Rocky and Rihanna are already raising two young boys, RZA, who recently turned 3, and Riot, now 2. The couple has embraced parenthood publicly, often showing how family life is their top priority.
Playful Hint About Baby No. 3’s Name
During the interview, Rocky also had some fun when asked about possible baby names. With a laugh, he shared that he might take inspiration from his Highest 2 Lowest co-star, Hollywood legend Denzel Washington.
The rapper insisted the name Denzel is locked in regardless of the baby’s gender.
“Denzel, that’s the name, no matter what,” he joked. “Even if it’s a girl, she’s getting Denzel. We already made up our minds.”
