Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto recently challenged a claim made by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) on his show “Your World with Neil Cavuto” regarding the involvement of progressive billionaire George Soros in pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.

Mace asserted that Soros has funded groups participating in these protests, but Cavuto pushed back, stating there is no proof to support this claim. The exchange began when Cavuto asked Mace about her thoughts on institutions negotiating with protesters and considering measures to divest from Israel.

Mace responded by calling for firings, expulsions, and deportations of those involved, claiming that peaceful protests would be a different scenario. She then alleged that several pro-Palestine groups involved in the student protests are backed financially by Soros, a Jewish Holocaust survivor.

Cavuto countered, “Alright, there’s no proof that these are funded by George Soros, by the way… their folks have denied that. But, we’ll see exactly where this money comes from.” Mace replied, “We’ll agree to disagree, I guess.”

This exchange follows similar comments made by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who suggested that Soros might be behind the pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses.

Jewish Democrats have criticized Johnson for perpetuating this notion, with Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) accusing him of using an “antisemitic trope” and pointing out the hypocrisy of passing a bill aimed at fighting antisemitism while making such claims.

The controversy highlights the ongoing debate and tensions surrounding pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, with some calling for disclosure and divestment from Israel, while others demand stricter measures against those involved.

The involvement of George Soros, a prominent progressive donor, has been repeatedly alleged but not proven, leading to pushback from Cavuto and others.
