A devastating overnight attack on Kyiv by Russian drones and missiles has left at least six people dead and over 50 others injured, according to Ukrainian officials. Among the deceased is a six-year-old boy, while multiple fatalities were reported at an apartment block that collapsed following the strikes.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, warned that the death toll could rise, with widespread destruction affecting more than 20 locations across the Ukrainian capital.
Residential Areas, Schools, and Hospitals Damaged as Russian Strikes Devastate Kyiv Neighborhoods
The strikes caused severe damage to residential zones, particularly in the Sviatoshynsky and Solomyansky districts. Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klymenko confirmed that one person was killed and 20 were injured in those areas.
A residential high-rise building was completely devastated, with an entire entrance destroyed. Emergency crews continue to clear rubble in hopes of finding survivors. In addition to homes, vital infrastructure, including a hospital, a school, and a kindergarten, suffered damage.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that shockwaves from the explosions shattered windows at a children’s hospital in Shevchenkivsky district. The widespread blast effects highlight the indiscriminate nature of the attack, which also affected educational institutions.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the scene as a “horrible morning” and noted that people were still trapped under debris, indicating the ongoing danger and emotional toll on the population.
Trump Urges Ceasefire, Ukraine Demands Stronger Sanctions Amid Escalating Russian Attacks
The continued Russian aggression comes despite a stern warning from U.S. President Donald Trump, who had previously set a 50-day deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach a ceasefire. During a recent visit to the UK, Trump reduced this window to just 10 or 12 days, expressing frustration over the contradiction between Putin’s private assurances and the escalating military violence. Trump stated that a ceasefire had appeared within reach, only for it to be derailed by further Russian strikes.
Ukrainian officials, including Foreign Minister Sybiha, have called for stronger international pressure on Moscow. Sybiha emphasized that Trump has shown considerable patience with Putin, but the time has come for “maximum pressure” through stricter sanctions. With tensions rising and civilian casualties mounting, the Ukrainian leadership is urging global allies to respond decisively to what they describe as blatant violations of international norms and humanitarian law.
