Kimmel, who has been vocal in his criticism of Trump, welcomed Bridges by expressing his appreciation for the actor’s presence. Kimmel, intrigued by Bridges’ demeanor, asked, “You seem like a very optimistic person. Is that how you would describe yourself?”
Bridges acknowledged the disappointment he felt but chose not to focus on the political figures involved. Reflecting on his past experiences, Bridges, 74, also mentioned his background in the Coast Guard, quoting its motto: “Semper paratus,” which means “always prepared.”
Bridges explained how he’s been approaching these turbulent times, saying, “Life is filled with ups and downs, but you have to roll with it.” He emphasized that his grieving process had evolved into a more courageous mindset. “This is the time to be brave, not just in creativity but in how we act,” Bridges said. He also pointed to his advocacy for No Kid Hungry as a way to contribute positively during uncertain times.
While Bridges acknowledged the unpredictability of the future, he expressed confidence in facing challenges head-on. His optimistic approach echoes the sentiments he shared after the 2016 election, when he voiced support for Trump in hopes that he would serve the country well.
