President Donald Trump is set to host the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House to finalize a groundbreaking peace agreement. The accord not only aims to end hostilities between the two nations but also includes a strategic U.S. development initiative in the region.
Central to the agreement is the establishment of a vital transit corridor between Armenia and Azerbaijan, to be named the TRIPP, the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. According to White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly, this route will maintain Armenia’s sovereignty while enhancing regional connectivity and cooperation.
U.S. Gains Exclusive Corridor Rights as Trump Expands Global Peacebuilding Efforts
As part of the deal, Armenia will grant the United States exclusive, long-term rights to develop and manage the TRIPP corridor through its territory. The project will operate under Armenian law, while the U.S. will lease the land to a consortium that will oversee construction and ongoing operations.
The initiative is intended to boost trade, transit, and energy across the South Caucasus. Working groups are set to begin the immediate implementation of the roadmap to ensure the corridor becomes a driver of regional prosperity.
This agreement adds to Trump’s growing list of diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving international conflicts. Recently, his administration helped broker a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and claimed involvement in stopping five wars in the past five months.
Trump has made global peacemaking a key part of his political identity during his current term, often highlighting these achievements as a pathway to greater global stability and, personally, as justification for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Beyond the transit deal, Armenia and Azerbaijan will formally request the dissolution of the long-standing Minsk Group, which has mediated their conflict since 1992. Trump has positioned these efforts as part of his larger foreign policy strategy, which emphasizes results over process.
The president has also renewed his campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize, pointing to multiple nominations by foreign leaders and criticizing the award’s previous recognition of President Obama early in his tenure.
The Trump administration identified the South Caucasus transit corridor as a strategic opportunity earlier in the year. With the signing of the directive to establish a TRIPP negotiating team, formal talks to determine which U.S. companies will manage the corridor will begin soon.
A senior administration official underscored that the deal breaks away from Russian influence in the region and offers a pragmatic solution to a decades-long conflict. The signing also coincides with a key deadline Trump has imposed on Russian President Vladimir Putin to curb his aggression in Ukraine or face additional sanctions.
